A MOTHER pushing her baby in his pram was left terrified when she was attacked in daylight by a hooded robber.
Gwent Police today issued an urgent appeal after the attack in Cwmbran, which left the woman "unhurt but badly shaken".
The 29-year-old mother was grabbed and shoved to the ground. She was pushing her nine-month-old son in the pram along a footpath when the man struck.
The attacked happened on Monday at about 12.50pm, in Farlow Walk, near Fairwater Junior and Ysgol Gymraeg Schools.
PC Darrell Dewar, Cwmbran's crime and disorder reduction officer, said police were "extremely concerned" about the incident.
He said: "The man grabbed the victim from behind by the shoulders and demanded money.
"She said she did not have any and at that point he grabbed her by the face and said he didn't believe her."
PC Dewar said the woman fell to the ground and that the man rifled through a bag on her pram containing nappies and baby items - some of which he threw on the ground. He then ran off in the direction of Greenmeadow.
PC Dewar added: "The woman was left very distressed by the incident and we are urgently appealing for witnesses.
"The fact that she had a baby with her, and that this happened in broad daylight, is particularly worrying."
The man is described as pale, with short, sandy-coloured hair. He is said to be of slim build with a thin face, and about 5ft 8ins. He was wearing a grey hooded top and grey trousers.
