YOUNG snooker player Paige Morgan is taking her cue from a master - her dad, former world amateur champion Darren.
Although she is only ten years old, Paige is already showing a flair for the sport which made her father famous.
She plays once a week in the junior section of the Red Triangle Snooker Club in Cross Keys which is owned by Mr Morgan and where he played as a youngster.
And Paige is already proving a hot shot as she moves up the ranks. But Mr Morgan says he is not sure if would want her to follow in his footsteps and become a professional in what is still very much a man's world and is, even then, quite difficult to break into.
Alison Fisher is one of the few women who made a name for herself in snooker and women's prize money is just a fraction of that earned by male snooker players.
Sensibly, he just wants Paige to have some fun and enjoy the game at her age. He said: "At the moment I want her to explore all the other possibilities out there, not just snooker."
Mr Morgan said Paige started playing at the club about 18 months ago starting in the junior section's fourth division.
"In the first season she played she came fourth and in the second season she came first," said the Cwmfelinfach-born player who was once ranked eighth in the world, adding that Paige was in the third division.
"She loves it and never wants to miss a Saturday morning. I do try and encourage her to do other things and she plays netball."
Paige also follows the professional game and can identify the top players. "She cues nicely and stands properly," said Mr Morgan. "When addressing the ball she certainly looks the part."
The lure of the green baize appears to run in the family as Mr Morgan and his wife Tracy's other daughters eight-year-old Ellie-Mai and five-year-old Holly have also shown an interest.
