Peter Beadle, Newport County manager, will hold a roll call of his walking wounded players before naming his side to take on Coca Cola League Two club Wrexham at Newport Stadium tonight (kick-off 7pm) with a place in the semi-finals of the lucrative Welsh Premier Cup at stake.
And it may take Beadle quite a while to check through the list.
Defender Terry Evans, who received a 'dead leg' in the game with Welling, suffered an adverse reaction in the home defeat by Eastleigh in the Nationwide Conference South on Saturday. Ian Hillier is nursing sore ribs while Lee Jenkins could be absent because of damaged knee ligaments along with front runner Matt Green (hamstring).
If that's not bad enough, Craig Hughes sits out the tie because he is cup tied and central defender Paul Cochlin is recovering from a knee ligament injury. And it is too early to think about the defender making a return for the tough away game against high-flying Havant and Waterlooville in the league on Saturday.
Beadle, who ran the rule over players in two games yesterday as he attempts to boost his squad, said: "We were told it would be a month to six weeks. He is stepping up his training but we have got to be patient."
Jenkins is the biggest worry for Beadle, whom he fears will be out of the big game.
The prize money at stake is a major factor to both clubs with mid-table Wrexham still in administration. There's a £100,000 cheque awaiting the winners in the BBC-back competition. The winners of tonight's tie will get £25,00 0 and the beaten side will pick up £15,000.
Tonight's winners will face TNS, leaders of the Welsh Premier League, in the last four. This will be quite a landmark game for Scott Young, the former Cardiff City and Newport County player who has rejoined the club as assistant manager after taking the number two job with his home town club Ton Pentre in the top flight of the Macron Welsh League.
He said: "It was a good learning curve for me at Ton and now I am looking forward to it because when Newport came calling I jumped at the chance. It is a big stepping stone for me, a smashing challenge and there is so much potential at the club.
"And there is also the chance to get back into the Football League. If you are going down the management route then it has to be everyone's target.
"For the players the tie is a welcome relief from the league and it will be a good test for the lads because Wrexham, of the three League clubs taking part, are the ones to treat this cup with the most respect and they normally put out a strong team."
Absent from the Wrexham midfield will be skipper Darren Ferguson who is a flu victim while on-loan Aston Villa striker Sam Williams will be making his debut.
Wrexham (1-3-5-2): Ingham; Pejic, D Williams, Mike Williams; Spender, Whitney, Crowell, Jones, Holt; Walters, S Williams. Substitutes (from): Jones (gk), Bayliss, Bennett, Smith, Marc Williams, Evans, Mackin.
