We've got the word on holiday heaven

And tomorrow the schoolgirls from Newport will be using their knowledge of what they like to do on trips abroad to advise other youngsters on their family's choice of destination.

Georgia and Sophie, of Ringland Circle, have been appointed kids' consultants at First Choice Holiday Hypermarket, Newport Retail Park, to suggest ideas for the perfect family break.

Twelve-year-old Georgia, who attends Hartridge High School, and Sophie, nine, have clocked up the air miles - but it's not surprising as mum Tracey is the hypermarket manager.

The girls will try to help families decide which are the best holidays by telling youngsters which countries and resorts offer children's activities, so boredom doesn't creep in.

Mrs Hultberg, 36, said: "It's really exciting and, as far as I am aware, this has never been done before in Wales."

She hopes parents looking to book holidays will bring their children to the store so they can chat with Sophie and Georgia, who have been to Menorca, Majorca, Mexico, Florida and Spain.

"When people go into a travel agent they think they are going to sit down and that's it," said Mrs Hultberg.

"But now they can bring their children and they can talk to Sophie and Georgia."

She said occupying children while their parents find a holiday should reduce the stress of booking.

Sophie, who goes to Ringland Primary and wants to be an air hostess, plans to tell children what she enjoys doing on holiday.

Her favourite trip was a cruise around the Spanish coast last October. She said: "We did rock climbing, there was a kids' club party and lots of swimming."

But Georgia's favourite holiday memories come from three trips to Mexico, and she said it is essential any holiday destination has plenty to amuse children so they don't get frustrated while the adults sunbathe.

The girls, who are not being paid for their work, will be at the store between 9am and 3pm, and if the move proves to be a hit, there are plans for a regular Saturday slot.
