A FATHER is appealing for information after his £500 dog was killed by a car whose driver failed to stop.
Anthony Ormond said his family were heartbroken over the death of their brown and white pedigree shitzu Mitzi. Gwent police are investigating.
His daughter Jalene, 16, was walking 18-month-old Mitzi when it was run over and killed instantly.
Mr Ormond, 37, said his daughter was in shock as she carried the dead dog back to their house, on Sunny Crest, Newbridge.
"She was in a terrible state. It's breaking her heart," he said. "The driver should have stopped and apologised."
Jalene was crossing Pant Road, Newbridge, when a small red car collided with the dog and carried on.
