SUPPORTERS of the campaign to keep Argoed primary open were out gathering support on Saturday.
Groups of pupils from the school and their parents demonstrated outside the Asda supermarket in Blackwood.
They handed out Save Argoed School leaflets to customers to draw attention to their efforts to save the school from closure.
The leaflets contain remarks made by inspectors in the school's recent successful inspection report such as "provision for pupils with additional learning needs is outstanding".
Rebecca Williams, the mother of one child at the school, said: "We gave out all our leaflets in the first hour.
"People were queuing up to sign a petition. We have filled ten sheets."
Caerphilly council is proposing to close the school in 2007 and transfer pupils to Markham Primary.
