RUSH-hour traffic in Newport was gridlocked for more than two hours last night after a large van overturned on the Coldra roundabout.
There was traffic chaos after the crash involving the white Fiat Ducato long-wheel van on the busy roundabout at around 4.30pm.
Inspector Mark Ryley, of Gwent Police, said all junctions of the roundabout were closed, re-opening at 5.20pm. But traffic remained at a standstill until after 7pm.
No other vehicles were involved.
The driver was said to be shaken but unhurt.
Inspector Ryley said: "There were queues up and around the east and westbound on the motorway.
"Because of the sheer weight of traffic nothing could move and as it was rush hour there was chaos."
