A CHEPSTOW woman tracing her family claims brother is punk legend Johnny Rotten.
But Janet Small, 51, from Thornwell, says the ex-Sex Pistols star does not believe her.
Her long search for her natural parents began in the 80s. She says her mum, Eileen, was unmarried and working in London as a barmaid when she was born in 1954.
Eileen was terrified of how her Irish Catholic family would react, says Janet, so she gave the baby up for adoption.
Months later Eileen was pregnant with Johnny while married to his father, John Lydon Sr.
The couple had three more sons but Eileen, who died of colon cancer in 1978, never told her family about Janet.
Janet, who lives with husband Nigel, 54, and who is a manager for Tesco Express, says she discovered Johnny was her brother after being given access to adoption papers.
She said: "I'll never forget when I first saw my file - it had my baby weight, that I was breast fed - even my mum's handwriting."
Janet, who grew up in London just a few miles from her birth mother, says Adoption for Wales confirmed the family ties.
She says she had an emotional meeting with John Lydon Sr, now 74. "He made me feel welcome but was shocked Mum didn't mention me. He said I looked like her," she said.
But she says Johnny and his brothers snubbed her. "I was very upset. I've offered DNA tests. All I want is to get to know them."
