CANCER survivor Rick Evans is to bare all for a Newport charity. Mr Evans, 39, who lives in Portskewett and works as a firefighter in Malpas, Newport, was diagnosed with testicular cancer three years ago.
Now fully recovered, he is taking to the stage in a Full Monty-style striptease with four colleagues to raise money for St David's Foundation hospice, which provides care for Gwent cancer sufferers.
Mr Evans said: "I wanted to show people there can be life after cancer. "But I'm aware there are many people who aren't as fortunate as me, and for them St David's provides an exceptional service."
The event will take place at Newport's NCLA on Friday, March 17, at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £8 and are on sale at selected St David's charity shops, as well as through the charity's fundraising department.
Local group The Elastic Band will provide the backing on the night. Since his recovery Mr Evans has organised a number of events for St David's.
These include a previous Full Monty event and setting up an annual fun run, due to take place at Tredegar Park, Newport, on October 8.
Emma Saysell, chief executive of St David's, said: "Rick is a real inspiration.
"It's fantastic he's able to get everyone on board to have fun and raise awareness of the service we provide to over 2,000 patients each year. "Get booking your tickets if you don't want to miss out."
