WHAT should the new footbridge across the River Usk in Newport be named?
The bridge, which will straddle the river from a point near Newport Centre to Rodney Parade, is due to be opened to pedestrians and cyclists in July. Now Newport Unlimited, the urban regeneration company that commissioned the £5m bridge, is asking for as many ideas as possible before a final decision is made on the name.
The company is asking Argus readers to send in their ideas for a name for the bridge. Should it simply be the Usk Footbridge, or the New City Bridge, or should it be named after a local hero or royalty?
Readers are asked to send in their own ideas. We will print a selection and forward them all to Newport Unlimited. The final choice will be made in conjunction with the city council.
Please send your suggestions to Bridge Name, Newsdesk, South Wales Argus, Newport, NP20 3QN, or e-mail us at sue.boyce@gwent-wales.co.uk
