Wouldn't it be great if you could clear out some of your unwanted goods and earn some cash at the same time?

A new business 'eMart' is using the phenomenal success of internet trading on sites such as eBay and QXL to help people in Newport sell their unwanted goods.

With the support of Newport city council's business development team, Chintwah Guite and Reverend Frank Wells are to open eMart UK Ltd, on Corporation Road. Customers can drop off their unwanted items leaving the business to use its sales expertise to portray the goods in the best light and achieve the best price possible.

After the auction, the shop takes a commission and the rest goes to the original owner. It really couldn't be easier and 10 percent of the business' profits are given to charity.

After several meetings with members of the city council's business development team, Mr Guite and Reverend Wells were able to access a start-up grant which will go towards the first year's rent.

Mr Guite said: "eMart is the first drop-off store in Wales. "More and more people are using sites such as eBay to buy and trade goods so it makes sense to make the whole process as easy as possible. "I have had great support from Newport city council on this venture and hope that the business will provide a most valuable service for people in the city. "The idea of a drop shop is relatively new in this country although it is well established overseas and I am sure it will prove to be a great success."
