A HEAD teacher says his school will miss out on £2,000 worth of educational equipment after being landed with a bill for vandalism.
The yobs caused the damage at Llantilio Pertholey Church in Wales Primary, Mardy, Abergavenny, after shooting out 24 windows. Glazers arrived yesterday to fix the windows.
Head teacher David Evans said: "It's such a shame because that money could be spent on a whole host of things like ICT equipment, raising standards of the school and additional support in classrooms."
Police said vandals used air rifles to shoot at the windows over the first weekend of the holiday. The small village school has suffered at the hands of yobs in the past.
Mr Evans said the school had been broken into and windows smashed, and youths had also climbed on the roof to steal tiles and lead.
He said: "I thought the vandalism had stopped because it's been quiet for a year but they seem to be back.
Previously benches bought for the children's yard have been smashed up, the pond has been tampered with, killing fish, and the school play house has been broken.
"We can't put anything in the yard for the children because it will end up being damaged. They were very upset when someone put stakes in the pond net - the water drained and animals were killed," said Mr Evans.
Inspector Marc Budden said: "We will continue to investigate the situation and appeal for witnesses or anyone who has seen people near the school acting suspiciously to contact us."
Anyone with information should contact Abergavenny police station on 01873 852273 and speak to PC 711 Jones or PC 1090 Atherley.
