EIGHTIES Welsh rock legends The Alarm will play a very special concert at Chepstow Castle this summer.
The band will headline the event, organised by Chepstow-based music promotions company Hannah's Music Promotions, on Saturday, August 26, with support from the Spencer Davis Group and Dave Edmunds.
The Alarm, fronted by Mike Peters, formed in Rhyl in 1981 and went on to have six Top 40 hits in the 80s including 68 Guns and Rain in the Summertime.
Likened to fellow rock legends U2 and The Clash, the band split in the early 90s and Peters embarked a successful solo career.
They reformed in 2001 for a hugely successful 20th anniversary tour and in 2004 returned to the UK Top 30 when they re-re-released 68 Guns under the pseudonym of the Poppyfields.
Despite being diagnosed with leukaemia last year, Mike, and the band, enjoyed their eighth chart hit last month when Superchannel reached number 24 and are currently touring in the States where they recently played at the SXSW Festival in Texas.
Chepstow businesswoman Carol Mutlow, who also runs two music shops - Hannah's Music in Abergavenny and Chepstow - founded HMP in 2005.
She has been a long-standing supporter of local bands and in 2000 launched Rock in the Dell, an annual music concert aimed solely at showcasing music groups from the Gwent area.
Tickets are £20 and available now by contacting the ticketline on 01291 621050.
