Newport County boss Peter Beadle has issued a rallying call to Newport County supporters ahead of two home games in five days that could determine the club's destiny.

Sutton United are the visitors to Spytty Park tomorrow (kick-off 3pm) with relegation threatened Hayes visiting on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm) in crucial Conference South fixtures.

County have accumulated seven points out of their last three league games and are now within two points of climbing out of the bottom two for the first time in weeks.

Further to this Basingstoke Town, Eastbourne Borough and Hayes have all slipped into the scrap for survival meaning it's no longer a three horse race between County, Maidenhead and Carlshalton.

Hayes and Basinstoke both looked safe just a few weeks ago but are now both badly out of form.

Basingstoke manager Ernie Howe resigned last week after more than 13 years in charge, replaced by Francis Vines.

All of this has given County supporters renewed hope and boss Beadle is urging the fans to get behind the side ahead of their "hardest games of the season."

Beadle explained: "The next two games are without question the hardest of the season because the pressure is now really on the players.

"After our recent run people, including me, are expecting us to win both of the games which hasn't been the case for a long while.

"Both games give us a great chance but we have to be mentally prepared.

"What we have been doing well in the recent games is the basic things. We've been defending well as a unit and people are taking collective responsibility.

"We need to ensure we carry that into the home games. Our pitch is abysmal and we can't always play great football on that surface, particularly with our league position.

"We need to be focused and positive and we need our supporters to stand tall with us."

Beadle lost midfielder Andy Legg this week when he joined League Two outfit Peterborough United as assistant manager but is still confident in his squad.

He hoped to bring in two new players ahead of yesterday's transfer deadline but the relevant clubs would not let the contracted players leave.

"We haven't strengthened and have lost Andy Legg but I have an almost fully fit squad and the boys are feeling confident at the moment," Beadle said.

"It would have been nice to bring in a new face but this group have improved tremendously and I am confident they are up to the task."

Defender Andrew Thomas has an ankle strain and could miss tomorrow's game but other than that Beadle has a fully fit squad with everyone available.

Defender Terry Evans is no longer part of Beadle's squad but as he has not been in contact with the club County retain his registration.

"We want Terry's kit back and I have left him a message to tell him that but have still not heard from him," Beadle said.
