BIRDIES are often seen on the golf course - but models Rachel Hunter and Jodie Kidd were watching a different kind of birdie during a photoshoot yesterday to launch the Celtic Manor Wales Open in Newport.
And a less glamorous-looking golfer with a better handicap, Colin Montgomerie, also dropped by for the event.
Photographers eagerly lined up for pictures of the models and were green with envy when Monty stepped between the beauties for the snaps.
Rachel, who admitted she had never played golf before her first lesson at the course on Tuesday, is to attend the event's Ladies' Day on June 3. "I've heard a lot about the Celtic Manor Resort and particularly about Ladies' Day.
"I actually had my first golf lesson at the academy here yesterday and I'm keen to play a lot more."
But Jodie, on the other hand, has experience on the course, playing in a celebrity tournament last summer.
"It's no secret that I'm a massive golf fan and I really enjoyed playing in the All Star Cup at the Celtic Manor," she said.
"I'm looking forward to playing in this year's pro-am tournament, spending some time down here during the event." The models will be joined by singer Ronan Keating, who is also to play in the pro-am tournament. The Wales Open will be held from June 1 to 4.
