NEWPORT County boss Peter Beadle is still confident of survival in the Conference South, despite County's seven game unbeaten streak coming to an end yesterday.
County lost after a freak goal and a penalty gave Farnborough the spoils in an even contest played between two of the division's in-form sides.
County now need a maximum of four points from their remaining two games (Cambridge City away and Thurrock at home) to guarantee survival and Beadle is still confident.
He said: "The players worked their socks off yet again and are extremely disappointed to have lost their unbeaten run.
"In the last six or seven games we've been up there with the two top teams in the league in terms of form and the players have earned a few days rest.
"But we will be ready for Cambridge next Saturday, looking to get a result there. It is in our own hands and even if we had won yesterday we wouldn't have been safe.
"We still have two games to determine our own future and we are ready to earn the right results."
Beadle felt his side were unlucky to lose to a side riding as high as third in the league.
"It was a bit like a chess game, really nip and tuck and it was all about who would make the first mistake, which unfortunately we did," he said.
"Throughout the game I thought we deserved better, we were the better team in the first half and created a few chances in the second half as well.
"But maybe it was a game too far for us, we looked a bit jaded and a bit tired and I think the extra day of rest and easy travel for Farnborough helped them greatly.
"But we stuck at it and if we had got a draw I don't think Farnborough would have been disappointed.
"We have proved that we can stand toe to toe with a very good side and I want the players to take positives out of the game and keep up the tremendous spirit they have.
"It has been a superb run but we can't rest on our laurels and now we need to start another run, I know the players are up to it. The line between success and failure is a fine one and we need to get it right again on Saturday."
