A new multimillion pound campus for Newport's city centre has been given the go-ahead by the University of Wales, Newport, Newport City Council and Newport Unlimited.
The £20m campus will be situated on the banks of the River Usk in the city centre, and will be the first phase of an intended £50m development for the university.
Initially it will house the Newport School of Art, Media and Design, signalling a return of the school to the centre of the city.
Professor James Lusty, vice-chancellor of the university, said: "This is a very important development both for us and for the city."
