SUPER Furry Animals have announced a surprise gig in The Point, Cardiff Bay next week.
The acclaimed psychedelic Welsh band will be warming up to their European tour of festivals.
It's the first venue they've played in some time at which fans will be able to see the whites of their eyes.
Although, they've played nearly all the venues in South Wales, since Rings Around The World, success has kept them on larger Welsh stages.
Their live show has developed from pure chaos to a spectacular multi-media event with screens, quadraphonic sound and furry toys. From Fuzzy Logic back in the Cool Cymru days of 1996 to last year's Love Kraft album, the Furries have released seven good quality albums.
They've also been very clever in their business affairs, which belies their loony-tunes image, with carefully planned recording contacts. The band has no ten-album deal but instead signs a new contact for each new album.
And if they want to go overseas, then they are free to sign whatever deal with whomever they please.
Politically, with albums like Phantom Power they've slammed global politics of George Bush and criticised rampant globalisation.
Band members have released solo albums and been involved in side projects but Super Furry Animals seem here to stay.
They are simply, one of the best bands Wales has ever produced and as yet they show no signs of selling out.
See Super Furry Animals in The Point, Cardiff Bay on Wednesday, May 3. Tickets are £10. Dial 029 2046 0873 for more info.
