ONE of the most successful artists of the 60s, Geno Washington, brings his unique blend of soul, R&B, and rock n roll to Blackwood Miners' Institute on Saturday, May 6, as part of a year-long European tour celebrating 40 years in the music business.

Geno has become our very own soul man after first coming over to the UK with the US Air force in the 60s.

This incredible musician had two of the biggest albums of the decade, Hand Clappin', Foot Stompin' and Funky Butt Live which was in the album charts for 48 weeks in 1966.

After living the 60s to the max, Geno went back to Washington and spent the 70s taking a well-earned break.

The 80s saw Geno thrust back in to the limelight again when he was immortalised in Dexy's Midnight Runners' hit Geno.

Offers of tours followed and our soul man headed back to the UK and back on the road.

Geno has toured extensively since and is always in demand sending audiences crazy with his high-energy gigs that continue to be the stuff of legend.

They say that when Geno and his six piece band take to the stage, anyone seeing them is incapable of having a bad time. This gig is a must for live music fans whether you were around in the 60s or not! Tickets cost £12 with £11 concessionary prices. Call the box office on 01495 227206.
