KNIFE-WIELDING raiders terrorised a family in their Newport home before making off with jewellery.
Two men entered the house in Canon Street, off Caerleon Road, Newport, through the open front door at around 8.40pm on Thursday, before threatening a man inside.
After demanding property, they left the scene with gold jewellery in a 4x4 car.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said the incident lasted "a matter of minutes" and the man received bruising to his neck during a struggle. A woman and child, who were also in the house at the time, were unhurt.
The spokewoman added that armed response offices were called to the street as a precaution.
Neighbours said they saw around three police cars and a van at around 10pm and the street was cordoned off while officers searched the area.
Detectives are searching for two men both approximately 5ft 11 ins tall and in their early 20s. One was described as black, wearing a black hooded top with white flecks which was pulled up. The other man was also wearing a black hooded top.
