A NEWPORT football club which lost its temporary home after arsonists set fire to its changing rooms is calling on other clubs for help.

Villa Dino Christchurch FC is now homeless after the changing rooms it uses at Blackash Park in Lliswerry were gutted by fire last week.

Around £1,500 worth of equipment including nets, the barrier for the pitch, match balls, corner flags and medical kit, was destroyed in the fire.

This equipment was used by the club’s two senior teams and junior teams, which includes 200 children.

The club is now hoping to borrow any equipment which other clubs can spare.

Villa Dino Christchurch FC, which plays in the Gwent country league, is also asking fellow clubs within the association about the possibility of ground sharing.

The club could use another team’s pitch and changing facilities when that club plays an away game.

Club chairman Dino Gulotta said this would be of great help as a temporary measure while it raises the money to buy new equipment and sort out a new home.

The building’s ceiling and rafters were damaged and equipment destroyed after arsonists set fire to some rubbish inside the building.

The fire was reported to the police on Thursday.

The club is normally based at the Glebelands but moved to Blackash Park temporarily which it rented from the council while the school is being built.

Anyone who can help the team is asked to call Mr Gulotta on 01633 251267 or club president John Ross on 01633 284477.

Anyone with any information about the fire is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
