AN Abergavenny girl has won a place in the final of a children’s quiz show.
Lowri Turner, 11, of Lansdown Road is one of five youngsters who will battle it out for the crown of Mastermind Plant Cymru 2009 on the Welsh language channel S4C on Thursday night.
Lowri will to face tough questions from quizmaster Betsan Powys on her chosen specialist subject-the Inkworld Trilogy by Cornelia Funke.
Lowri, who attends Welsh medium comprehensive Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw in Trevethin, filmed the show on Saturday and admitted that sitting in the famous black chair was nerve-wracking.
"I chose the Inkworld trilogy novels because I’m a huge fan," said the year 6 pupil.
"I read Inkheart, Inkdeath and Inkspell twice to make sure I knew as much as I could about them."
"In two minutes I had to answer as many questions as I could in Welsh so the pressure was on," added Lowri.
The winner will be revealed on Mastermind Plant Cymru which will be screened on S4C on Thursday (October 15) at 8.25pm.
