BLAENAU Gwent Borough Council is not the only local authority to try turning off streetlights to save money and energy.
But it is the council whose actions have caused the biggest uproar among residents.
Following a meeting yesterday, which took on board the strength of feeling against the plans, residents now at least have a reprieve of four months until a new system is introduced in February.
While not a solution to the row it does at least give both sides in this debate breathing space, on the one hand for the opponents to come up with a stronger campaign and for the council to look at alternative schemes.
