POLICE have sealed off part of Newport's Chepstow Road.
Officers with dogs are currently searching a number of houses in the area, and local people are reporting that there are armed officers at the scene.
Eyewitnesses say they see five police vehicles.
Police have as yet not released any information about the ongoing incident.
