Over 1,000 children from Gwent will join forces to make a pop video aimed at raising money for a cancer charity.
The video, directed and produced by national diploma in media staff and students from Coleg Gwent's Crosskeys campus, is part of a project run by Cor Casnewydd, the City of Newport's new children's community choir.
The initiative will bring together young local talent to produce a pop single and video entitled Don't Give Up, offering messages of hope and inspiration to cancer patients. Proceeds from the sale of the single will raise funds for Tenovus, Wales' own cancer charity and the video will be played in mobile cancer treatment units across Gwent, as well as being released nationwide.
The music track will be recorded in both English and Welsh in two live studio sessions early next year and the video will be shot on location at landmarks throughout Gwent. The video will also include a segment in sign language, feature 1,000 local youngsters aged from 6-18, and Tenovus' charity work.
Composer of Don't Give Up, Emma Rowland, has been working with Coleg Gwent students on ideas for the music video.
It will be available to purchase on CD or download after a launch at Tredegar House on Saturday, March 6 2010.
