TWO major poetry events are being held at the Hen and Chicks in Abergavenny which includes the visit of international poet Benjamin Zephaniah.
First, Chris Torrance, Lee Harwood, Phil Maillard and Ric Hool will gather on Saturday at 7pm to read and celebrate the launch of Three Lyric Poets by Will Rowe.
Rowe will be at the event to introduce the book which is published by Northcote House and which features the work of Torrance, Harwood and the late Barry MacSweeney.
Phil Maillard will conduct the evening with Torrance and Harwood presenting their own work and Ric Hool reading poems by MacSweeney. Tickets for this e vent are £5.
On Tuesday, October 27, Zephaniah will headline the evening. Zephaniah, a regular broadcaster and a prolific writer and performer, is credited with injecting new life into the national poetry scene.
Also on the bill is Anne Cluysenaar, a Belgian-born poet and painter, brought up in Ireland, who now lives in Gwent. This event is at 8pm and entry is by ticket only, price £10.
