A GROUP of Newport youngsters took to the football pitch on Monday for a kick out racism fun day.
Around 60 Pill youngsters, aged between 11 and 16, took to Pill playing fields for the fun day, which included playing matches and trying out different challenges.
They attempted cross bar challenges, penalty shoot outs and freestyle sessions.
The day was also supported by Newport footballer Nathan Blake, president of Pill junior football club, and who dropped by on Monday to support the day.
The day was organised by Communities First in Pill as part of Kick It Out and The One Game, One Community Weeks of Action campaigns.
Sports development worker, Norman Parselle, said Pill is one of the most multicultural areas in Newport and said football brings everyone together.
Youngsters have also learnt about diversity and inclusion through a series of workshops run by Communities First from February to May.
To find out more about the different cultures within Pill, youngsters used these workshops to create their own powerpoint presentation on a European country, something Communities First hopes to continue in the future.
