TWO CWMBRAN fitness instructors have raised more than £6000 for St Anne's Hospice by trekking through the Grand Canyon.
Liz Filer and Rowena Kitson, both 27, work at the Esporta fitness club in Cwmbran and decided to take on the challenge as an alternative way of raising funds.
The pair spent four days trekking around 10 miles each day through the Grand Canyon and three nights camping out there.
The idea came after Ms Kitson had previously trekked the Great Wall of China in aid of Cancer Research and was looking for another charity adventure challenge to take on.
She said: “It is hard to describe the experience we had but it was very memorable and parts of it such as the views we got were quite overwhelming.
“So far we have collected more than £6000 but are still waiting for more to come in so we are really pleased with what we have raised.”
