A NEWPORT teenager was transformed into a zombie bride this week as she walked across the Old Severn Bridge to raise money for charity.
Katy Bird, 17, of Hendre Farm Drive, Ringland, walked across the bridge in aid of the Joshua Foundation and set off at 10.30am on Wednesday.
Dressed as a Halloween-inspired zombie bride complete in white make-up, black dress, black and purple netting and veil, Miss Bird made her way across the bridge.
The Argus paper girl and St Joseph’s School pupil, has raised around £200 from donations by people on her paper round and from friends and family.
Miss Bird needs to raise £2,000 to be able to go on a trip with the charity to America in Summer 2011.
This was after representatives from the charity visited her school a few weeks ago to tell pupils about the trip.
If she is successful in raising the £2,000, this will be split between funding the trip and helping the charity.
The trip will be made up of sightseeing and some conservation work.
This is the first fundraiser Miss Bird has organised and she is planning to organise some other events before the deadline of February 2011.
