THIRTY jobs are being created in Newport by a care company after winning official approval from the city council.
Angels Care Services are among 15 organisations who were granted a place on the authority's list of home care service providers.
It has now launched a recruitment drive for carers to cover the city with particular emphasis on Marshfield, Castleton, St Mellons and Coedkernew.
The company, which has other Welsh councils in its portfolio, wants to increase its number of staff from 70 to 100.
Norris Wilson, director of Angels Care Services, is delighted at the inclusion in the council list.
Although the head office is in Cardiff, it is now planned to open an office in Newport and they would like to expand into Monmouthshire and Torfaen.
Since being launched eight years ago, the company has grown rapidly and prides itself on the quality of care provided for clients.
It offers home assistance for anyone recovering from illness, coping with disability or growing gracefully into old age.
"We are delighted to be included on the approved provider list as Newport is somewhere we have looked at growing towards for the last 18 months," said Mr Wilson.
He added their goal was to introduce people aged over 50 to a new career in caring and, as full training was provided, no experience was necessary.
"Many people over the age of 50 feel that they have nothing to offer because of their age but our eldest carer is 71 and loves the fulfillment her role as a carer brings."
