WE fully support the work of Hafan Cymru, the charity that supports domestic abuse victims.
It now helps 26 people at its Ebbw Vale centre in Bethcar Street.
The charity has limited funding from the Assembly.
It’s such a shame that a vital service like this probably has to spend as much time fundraising as it does trying to help desperate people.
Such services are absolutely vital to some of the most vulnerable people in society.
They help people in their most desperate hour.
The charity is also helping to set up its first women’s special housing project in South East Wales.
Hafan Cymru is working with Blaenau Gwent Council and United Welsh Housing Association to create six self-contained units.
A planning application has been submitted and the council and housing association have already been awarded £650,000 worth of grants.
We wish it well in the future and hope the Assembly can also find a way to increase funding to this invaluable cause.
