A TRIAL will take place in Leicester next month of the man accused of causing the death by dangerous driving of a popular Newport grandmother.
Susan Clark, 55, of Bakers Court, Marshfield, was driving on the M6 near Rugby on April 7, 2008, when her car was crushed between two lorries in a horrific accident.
She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Robert Earnshaw, 42, of Linton Avenue, Hyde, Cheshire, was charged with death by dangerous driving.
The trial will start at Leicester Crown Court on December 14.
The lorry driver last appeared in court on September 10 and was released on conditional bail.
Mrs Clark was on her way to stay with her daughter and relatives.
The grandmother-of-four was full of excitement as her daughter was just weeks away from having a baby.
Her love of children was well-known and she spent 12 years working at Marshfield playgroup.
She also worked at Newport Tesco Extra on Cardiff Road for ten years where she was a familiar face on the cut flowers stand.
In a tribute released at the time of the accident, Mrs Clark’s daughter-in-law, Julia Clark, said: “She was very talkative and chatty. She loved children and was a devoted mother and grandmother. We couldn’t have asked for more.”
