WE'VE published details of just some of the organised firework displays right across our area.

And our message to families is to attend one of these displays rather than launching home-grown displays and that is for several reasons.

Firstly with events taking place from Newport to Caldicot, and Usk to Blackwood there is bound to be at least one in your area.

Secondly, the beauty of organised displays is that the firework shows are far better than those which can be created in back gardens.

Thirdly, and far more importantly, the safety aspect at such events is paramount. On top of that of course, many of the local Guy Fawkes celebrations are held as fund-raising events for local charities, which is another excellent reason why families should opt to attend such an event.
