OUR congratulations today go to Karen Seager who was last night recognised at Downing Street for the work she does in her Newport community helping to fight crime and tackle anti-social behaviour.
The Malpas mother is one of a group of residents who got together to form a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in their area.
Fed up with the behaviour of youths, who were throwing mud at her home, shouting verbal abuse and trespassing, she decided to do something about it.
With the help of others all incidents were recorded in order to gather evidence for police action.
The group has since organised litterpicks and local raffles and made sure residents are spoken to so their concerns can be addressed.
She is an example to us all.
While many of us are content to moan about anti-social behaviour, here is someone who has actually done something about it to benefit not only her own quality of life but those of her neighbours as well.
