EVENTS will take place across Gwent this weekend to mark Remembrance Sunday.

These include a parade which will start at 10.15am outside the Kings’ Hotel in High Street, Newport, and finish at Clarence Place, with a service with a band at the cenotaph at 10.45am.

An evening service will take place at Mission to Seafarers Chapel of St Peter in Alexandra Docks.

In Blackwood a parade will leave Pentwyn Road at 10.30am and move along High Street and Pentwyn Avenue.

Risca’s parade will begin in St Mary Street at 10.15am and finish at the Memorial Plaque at 12.45pm.

In Newbridge a parade will assemble on Parry Street at 10.15am, marching to Newbridge Tabernacle Chapel for the service at 10.45am and then to the cenotaph for the act of remembrance at 11.45am.

In Cefn Fforest a parade will begin in Waunborfa Road at 10.30am and finish in Cefn Fforest Avenue at 11.30am, and Oakdale’s parade will start at the same time in Penmaen Avenue.

In Monmouthshire a wreath will be laid in Nevill Street at 10.30am, in Chepstow a service will take place at the cenotaph in Beaufort Square, in Monmouth at the Shire Hall and St Mary’s Church at 10.30am and in Usk at the Royal British Legion club at 2.30pm.

Blaenau Gwent’s parades will begin at Foundry Bridge in Abertillery at 10.15am, at 10.30am at St Mark’s Church in Llanhilleth, in Beaufort Street, Brynmawr, at 10.30am and in Bethcar Street, Ebbw Vale, at 10.35am.

In Tredegar a service will be held at Bedwellty Park’s war memorial at 11am.

In Torfaen, a parade will leave Clomendy Road in Cwmbran at 10.15am with a two-minute silence held at the War Memorial Clock and in Blaenavon the 10.50am parade from the Top car park will be followed by wreath-laying at the war memorial.

A service will also be held at the Pontypool Park’s Memorial Gates at 12pm.
