TWO NEWPORT neighbourhood sergeants are helping to promote Gwent Police’s non-emergency number, by being the faces of a new campaign.
Husband and wife Steph and Richie Blakemore are gracing the front of fridge magnets which were handed out during last week’s “Not In My Neighbourhood” event to promote the force’s non-emergency number, 101.
Sgt Steph Blakemore, who is a neighbourhood sergeant in Newport city centre, said: “We both work in neighbourhood policing teams and it’s very important for members of the public to know how to contact us.”
The number was launched in April for residents to report incidents such as anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and other non-urgent issues.
The 101 number is available 24-hours a day, 365-days a year and callers can be transferred as a 999 call if the operator deems it necessary.
