PEOPLE across Gwent raised thousands of pounds for Children in Need through a range of activities yesterday.
Two Caerphilly council workers ate pigs' eyes, lambs' brains, snails and an octopus during an I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here-style Bush Tucker Trial.
Claire Kaya and Gareth Jones, from the social services department, were cheered on by fellow members of staff at the council's Hawtin Park offices in Gellihaf, Pontllanfraith, as they sampled a range of exotic treats.
They also ate pigs' stomachs, tangy tongue, hot chillies and curly pigs'
tails.
Children and staff at Abertillery Primary School wearing funny hats took part in a 24-hour cycle-a-thon and raised over £1,000.
The nursery and reception youngsters started the event at 9am by lapping the playground on trikes.
Other year groups completed an obstacle course on their own bicycles and years five and six children and parents took part in sessions on exercise bikes.
Twenty members of staff endured the night shift and took turns on the exercise bikes between 9pm and 9am this morning.
A Cross Keys man played darts for 12 hours dressed as a French maid at the Eagle Inn in High Street.
He plays for the pub's darts team and played tirelessly from 11am until 11pm.
Other punters took part in raffles, a disco an auction and wore fancy dress.
Children and staff at Seren Fach Nursery in Ponthir dressed in pyjamas, dressing gowns and slippers.
Staff bathed in baked beans and rice pudding and stayed awake all night.
The children made Pudsey Bear cakes and paintings and expect to raise more than £800.
Elsewhere, a Caerwent family took it in turns to hop, skip and jump for a mile from Crick to the Coach and Horses in Caerwent, raising more than £700.
Staff at Michelle Hair Design in Cwmbran dressed up as pirates and raised £150 through donations from customers and passers-by.
Pupils at Our Lady and St Michael's Primary School in Abergavenny danced the Cha cha cha and dressed up in posh frocks and tuxedos.
Croesyceiliog hairdresser Skyes The Limit raised £500 through a raffle and staff will take part in a sponsored sleepover at the salone tonight.
Youngsters at Kites Nursery in Queens Hill Crescent, Newport, raised nearly £400 making buscuits and getting all dressed up for the good cause.
