NEWPORT captain Simon Raiwalui is determined to put all the Welsh rugby uncertainty behind him as he pledges to lead the team from the front for the rest of this season.
Premier Division players with all clubs are not sure what the future holds and whether they will even earn a new contract.
The situation effects Raiwalui more than many as an overseas player - a Fiji regular - who is also out of contract at the end of this season.
But he says: "I don't really care about next season, only Newport this year.
"We have set our goals at Newport as a team and as a squad to win every game this season.
"We want to achieve things this season and do well in the league. Next year will look after itself.
"I am totally committed to the club and it's my job to get our team right and playing on Saturday.
"All I can say about next season is I know I'll be playing rugby somewhere."
The goalposts have also moved considerably for Newport's big overseas signing Percy Montgomery.
He originally joined a leading club side, but could now find himself as part of a combined team representing Gwent.
"I've been through this before in South Africa, and it's the same problems," he said, referring to his native country going provincial. "There is uncertainty with players who want to know where they are going."
Of tomorrow, he said: "It'll be nice for me to be part of a team again. There are no interruptions for me and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.
Newport and Wales lock Ian Gough spoke up for the typical Welsh player concerned about the future but good enough to earn a place in any new side when he said: "It is all having an effect, but I just get my head down and get on with it."
