NEWPORT lock Ian Gough is struggling to make the Wales team to take on Triple Crown-chasing England at Twickenham on Saturday.
Gough missed training yesterday because of a back injury which he suffered playing for Newport against Ebbw Vale last Friday.
Gough made his first start in this season's Six Nations against Italy after going on as a replacement against Ireland and France.
He was coming under some pressure from Llanelli's Newport-born lock Chris Wyatt, who damaged an ankle in the early stages against Ireland and hasn't played since. Also missing from Wales training was outside half Stephen Jones. He suffers from back spasms and sat out Llanelli's game against Caerphilly last Saturday. Iestyn Harris is standing by.
Joining the Wales training camp as cover are Neath's experienced lock Gareth Llewellyn and young Cardiff outside half Nicky Robinson.
Tom Shanlin is under heavy pressure to keep his place at outside centre. The Saracens player has recovered from the thigh injury which forced him off against Italy, but Bridgend's Gareth Thomas is pressing hard for a recall.
The scares over Gough and Jones and the uncertainty at outside centre are the only doubts about the Welsh team who march on Twickenham with confidence a bit higher after improved form and injury problems in the England camp.
Wales (probable): K Morgan (Swansea), D James, G Thomas (Bridgend), A Marinos (Newport), C Morgan (Cardiff), S Jones (Llanelli) or I Harris (Cardiff), R Howley (Cardiff), I Thomas (Ebbw Vale), R McBryde (Llanelli), C Anthony (Newport), I Gough (Newport) or C Wyatt (Llanelli), A Moore (Swansea), N Budgett (Bridgend), S Quinnell (captain), M Williams (Cardiff).
