NEWPORT Rugby Club are still waiting to complete an internal inquiry before deciding whether to make a formal request for a WRU inquiry into the Ofisa Tonu'u affair.
Scrum half Tonu'u was the subject of racial abuse in Newport's Principality Cup match against Bonymaen and the Welsh Rugby Union have promised to investigate if Newport follow up their verbal request with a written one.
"I haven't yet had chance to speak to everybody I want to," said Newport chief Tony Brown, "but I hope to have done so by the weekend.
"Newport have every respect for Ofisah Tonu'u as a player and we will respect his wishes in this matter.
"He's a good man and we want to show him our full support." Bonymaen prop Nigel Evans received just a 14-day club ban for his abuse of Tonu'u.
