Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (U) HHH Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Seann William Scott, Denis Leary, Chris Wedge and Queen Latifah Prehistoric pals Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo) and Diego (Denis Leary) make a welcome return in this accomplished sequel to the successful Ice Age.
The film starts with the Ice Age coming to an end and our heroes leaving their home to set off on a fight for survival to find a safe place to live.
Their adventure is fraught with danger in the shape of predators and the change of environment caused by the ice melting. As they battle to stay alive the ubiquitous Scrat is still tirelessly searching for that elusive acorn.
The original Ice Age was a very enjoyable affair and this follow-up is no different and gives the first film a real run for its money.
The animation is first class and children will love the cute creatures while others will be seduced by the stunning landscapes.
Director Carlos Saldanha keeps the action moving along smoothly, although this is not the most coherent of films as things move on at a fairly breakneck pace.
The laughs come pretty thick and fast with the reliable Scrat on customary top form.
Although it may be no classic, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown hardly puts a foot wrong.
