A MUSICIAN will play acoustic sets in nine Starbucks shops across the UK to raise money for Cancer Research.
Nick Byrne, 29, from Abersychan, will perform songs from his new album '4.15am' during the solo tour which will see him travel to different shops of the well-known coffee chain including Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, London and Cardiff.
The week-long tour which runs from July 17 until July 25 is part of Busking Cancer Week which is designed to help promote busking while raising money for Cancer Research.
Mr Byrne decided to take up the challenge after two people close to him have been affected by cancer.
On top of this the musical fundraiser is also planning ‘Usk Unplugged’, an acoustic event which will be held on July 3 at The New Court Hotel, Maryport Street. This is to raise funds for Marie Curie.
Although planning is still in its early stages, Mr Byrne is hoping to attract some big names to the event.
He said: “It's great to be able to use something I enjoy to raise money for these charities.
Mr Byrne , who is also a member of indie rock band ‘Evolvers’, is planning to release his first solo single ‘Anna’ on July 26 followed by his first solo album ‘4.15am’ on September 6.
Evolvers, who had an Indie top 20 hit in 2007 with their double A side single Bullets/ Midnight Song, are releasing their new single ‘Reflections’ on June 21.
All the singles will be released through Dragonffli Records as a download only via itunes.
