A CWMBRAN man sentenced to four months yesterday, after admitting a public order offence.

Sean Rees, 27, of Llwyn Celyn, Two Locks, appeared in Cardiff Crown Court and pleaded not guilty to charges of making threats to kill and affray, but pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting language or behaviour to cause harrassment alarm or distress to Tammy Dothard.

The court heard Rees had been drinking on February 9 this year and shouted at Ms Dothard that she would be sorry and threatened to hit her head off.

Rees admitted the charge on the basis that he was drunk and it was an "idle threat" and he did not intend her to believe it would be carried out.

Rees's counsel Hugh Wallace said following the offence Rees was recalled to prison for breaching his licence, imposed when he was released early from a four-year term for arson. He said Rees was due to be released on October 5.

Judge William Gaskell said: "Quite what she is supposed to think when you are drunk, violent and threatening to hit her head off is something to speculate about."

Rees was sentenced to four months in prison.
