TWO GWENT historic buildings will be restored thanks to more than £30,000 of Assembly funding between them.

Gelli Farm, based at Monmouthshire, and the National Coal Board Club at Tredegar are two of eight Welsh historic buildings being offered a share of £203,626 to carry out essential repairs and restoration work.

Gelli Farm will gain £12,000 while The National Coal Board Club will receive £25,000.

Gelli Farm, a group of farm buildings from the 17th and 18th century, consists of a Grade II listed farmhouse, a subsidiary house and a cider mill house. A stable, dairy and timber-framed barn is also included.

The funds will be used to replace 12 windows in the farm house and adjoining house as well as being used to carry out other external repairs and work.

This includes painting exterior woodwork and removing an existing kitchen to replace it with a garden room.

The National Coal Board Club, The Circle, is a late 19th Century former town hall. The money will be used to carry out a scheme of external repair work.

Minister for Heritage, Alun Ffred Jones said: “The grant offers, which are for a wide range of historic buildings across Wales, will ensure that some of our most important buildings are restored and maintained for the enjoyment of future generations.”
