THE phrase "lights, camera, action" could soon be uttered in Newport as film producers of the latest British box office hit scour Welsh locations for the setting for their next film.
The team behind gangster film Shank, which grossed nearly £500,000 in its first week of release, are looking at various locations in and around Newport as the focal point for their next project, details of which are being kept under wraps until the script is finished.
The company is searching for a waterfront location and is also looking at Cardiff and Swansea.
Head of Gateway films, Terry Stone, said Wales was increasingly becoming an attractive alternative to larger English cities for locations and they were considering it for their next title, for which the script is currently being written.
He said: “I think it is time that cities like Newport, Cardiff and Swansea, which have some incredibly interesting cinematic areas, appeared as the backdrop of films we are producing.”
The team hope to announce their chosen city in the next few months.
