UNWANTED socks were given a new home in Newport, thanks to some talented school children.
Youngsters at Pillgwenlly library were read sock related stories before giving decorating their own with gliiter glue and felt pens.
The colourful creations will be hung on a “sock tree” and given pride of place on the library’s wall for the next few weeks.
Children and young people services manager Tracey Paddon said that the idea came from one of her colleagues and although she thought it was a “bit weird” at first, she soon changed her mind.
“It’s good to use things you would usually throw away. At some point everybody has lost one sock,” she said.
The activity is just one of many that run at Newport libraries.
