POLICE have received calls following the Argus' appeal for information over Alex Chant.
The 20-year-old from Lliswerry, fell out of a car on Newport's Southern Distributor Road following a night out in Maindee on March 27.
Since then he has remained in a critical condition on a life support machine at the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff.
On Tuesday, his father Stephen made an emotional appeal for people who may have witnessed Alex's accident of knew anything about it to come forward with police.
Officers investigating the incident believe the postman was alone in the back of the dark people carrier with a sliding door when he fell out, as it travelled along the SDR from the direction of Coleg Gwent’s Nash campus towards Corporation Road at around 11.30pm.
The driver didn’t stop, but other motorists helped Alex near Carcraft.
Police explained that Alex had been out drinking at The Bank, before he bought a kebab from Sens kebab house and walked across the road to a bus stop where taxis usually pick up on Maindee Square at around 11.15pm.
Since the appeal, some people have come forward and a man who believes he saw Alex in the kebab shop is helping police with their inquiries.
Despite receiving some calls, police are still appealing for more witnesses.
Alex is 6’1, medium to stocky build, with short dark brown hair.
He was wearing a blue and white striped T-shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone who saw Alex in Maindee Square or can help identify the vehicle or driver, call Gwent Police on 0163383811
