ASTHMA sufferers were today warned to be aware of the risk posed by volcanic ash in the air following the eruption in Iceland.
Cher Piddock, clinical lead at Asthma UK, said: 'We know that volcanic ash can trigger asthma symptoms in people with asthma, however at the moment the ash is very high in the atmosphere and does not pose an immediate problem.
“We advise people with asthma to monitor the news closely and ensure they keep their reliever inhaler on them at all times. If people are concerned about their condition, they can speak to an asthma nurse specialist on our Adviceline, on 0800 121 62 44.”
