SPURRED on by the fundraising efforts of his local pub, a Newport father has joined six friends in having his head shaved for a charity close to his heart.
Dale Freeman, 32, had his head shaved in aid of Diabetes UK along with six friends from the Tredegar Arms in Bassaleg.
The pub had already held a fundraising quiz in aid of the charity and Mr Freeman wanted to do his bit to help.
He said: "It's close to my heart and I decided to add to the amount."
Mr Freeman's six-year-old daughter Hollie has type one diabetes and is insulin dependent.
The Pentrepoeth Primary School pupil was diagnosed with the illness when she was four-years-old.
The men grew their hair especially for the event, with one having hair to his shoulders, before it was all shaved off.
The group raised a total of £1,033 from the quiz and sponsored head shave and are expecting more money to come in.
