The Dolman Youth Theatre took over the studio space for two nights this week with their entertaining double bill of plays. Although very contrasting pieces both had audiences laughing out loud and provided a thought-provoking evening.
The opening production, ‘Brokenville’, was acted and directed by Youth Theatre members with great success! A story of a group who don’t know who they are, where they are or what happened start to tell fairy tales to keep a young child from getting scared and through them explore their own hidden pasts. A brilliant atmosphere was created that drew the audience into the decrepit, shady world, with impressive performances by all.
The second production, ‘Burglar Alarm’, transformed the space into a much lighter and tidier apartment of a newlywed couple. It’s an interesting story full of plotting where three couples get intertwined all in the name of a bet. A brilliant cast that played their roles wonderfully and kept the audience engaged.
Unfortunately this production only shows for two nights but it has to make way for two new plays ‘Frost’ and ‘Hindsight’ being staged tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday.
